France Congrès is the Organisation of Mayors of Conference Towns. Established in 1965, it currently brings together 52 towns where elected officials and business strive together to promote business tourism.

Our purpose is to:
inform conference organisers of the products and services offered by our members, increase our knowledge of the professional meetings market (conventions, symposia, etc.) through studies and statistical reviews, encourage the industry to develop quality control mechanisms within conference centres, develop synergies with professional organisations in the industry, increase awareness of business tourism both in the public and private sectors and contribute to its growth.

We operate in partnership with the Tourism Directorate, Maison de la France, DIACT (the French national and regional development agency), the Paris Tourist and Conference Office, ODIT France and other members of the business tourism industry (Traiteurs de France – the French Caterers’ Association, SNCF French railways…) to support the development of the industry.

Permanent staff
The permanent staff define and implement France Congrès’ work alongside the Committees and the Executive Board. Their duties include representing the 52 member towns, updating their knowledge of the market, advertising their services with businesses, associations, professional organisations and event planners.

Executive Board
12 elected officials and business representatives sit on the Executive Board. Assisted by the Committees, it submits action plans to the Management Board for approval, and implements them in coordination with town officials.

Committees
Elected officials and business representatives sit on the Committees in equal numbers. The Committees operate in close contact with the permanent staff.
The Promotion and Development Committee sets the appropriate PR and marketing policy to advertise conference destinations.
The Economic and Social Committee sets the survey and review policy so that convention centres achieve greater understanding of the market, manage their organisation effectively and optimise their commercial strategy. The Committee also focuses on quality control.

Membership requirements
Membership of France Congrès is subject to a set of requirements on facilities and size (technical equipment, capacity, environment, staff, etc.).
